2016 Jeep Cherokee Performance and Economy
Standard on all 2016 Jeep Cherokee models is a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine that generates 184 easy horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque, but that still manages just 7.7L/100km (37 mpg) on the highway. But if you like added performance, the Cherokee has one trick left in its bag: a 3.2L Pentastar VVT V6 Engine available for all trims. It raises those numbers up to 271 hp and 239 lb-ft of torque. The V6, when properly equipped, can tow up to 4,500 lbs. Each powertrain operates with a class-exclusive 9-speed automatic transmission and is available in either FWD or 4x4 mode, the latter of which can be adjusted between Auto, Snow, Sport and Sand/Mud modes.
